The world of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is constantly evolving, and the latest introduction from OpenAI is plugins for ChatGPT. In this blog post, we’ll take a look at these exciting new tools and explain how they will change the way we work with ChatGPT.

What are ChatGPT plugins?
ChatGPT plugins are specially developed tools that enable AI systems like ChatGPT to access up-to-date information, perform calculations or use third-party services. They extend the potential of ChatGPT and offer a variety of new application possibilities.
By now there are a lot of browser plugins that “overlay” ChatGPT. OpenAI may have been inspired by this and started its own plugin store for ChatGPT. The advantage here is not only new features but also direct access to existing data. A really exciting approach in my opinion and (as always) also accessible for everyone after an application to the waiting list. There are already some first partners and also already corresponding documentations.
How to enable ChatGPT plugins
To use ChatGPT plugins, you first need the paid ChatGPT Plus version. You can purchase this for about $20 per month. In the Plus version you have early / exclusive access to various features such as plugins or web browsing.
To enable the plugins, first navigate to your ChatGPT settings and enable “Plugins” under “Beta features”. If you don’t have this item yet, just wait a few days as the feature is being rolled out gradually.
After you have activated the function, you can now also select the Plugins section under the GPT-4 model.
Now you also have access to the plugin store and can select and activate over 70 different ChatGPT plugins. Note, however, that you can only activate a maximum of 3 plugins at a time.
